Winter has kept me busy between work and school. I finished up my last year at Rowan University where I was working toward my Elementary Education and Special Education degrees. I was also at TNT working with some of our Brookside kids. While looking for a full time teaching job I am working as a substitute teacher in the Glassboro School District.
A little background about myself, I grew up in Glassboro and have spent the past 22 summers at Brookside. As many of you know I swam for Brookside for 7 years. I was also on the Glassboro high school swim team where I swam for 4 years. I continued my involvement with swimming by helping Coach Brooke with Glassboro high school’s swim team until an assistant coach was hired. I have also been coaching with the TNT program at Rowan University for the past 4 years. While this is only my third official year as an assistant at Brookside, it is my 7th year working with the young swimmers of the team. From age 15 to 18 I volunteered to help Coach Paul and Coach Brooke with the 8 &unders and coaches squad.
Rob Conova
I have a long history here at Brookside. I swam for Brookside Swim Team for fourteen years and was captain my senior year. I swam in many Gloucester County “Peach Bowl” Meets and Tri-County Meets and was a relay record holder at age 12. I was a lifeguard for Brookside for three summers and was Head Lifeguard at Wenonah Swim Club for two summers. I also swam on the USS team at GCIT (now GPAC) during the winter seasons, for seven years and swam for Pitman High School under the direction of Coach Paul. I was a varsity member for all four years of High School and served as Team Captain my Senior Year. I graduated from Pitman High School and the Brookside Swim Team in 2006.
Currently, during the school year, I am the Assistant Swim Coach for the Boys’ and Girls’ teams at Kingsway Regional High School, an Assistant Coach for the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club, and the “Unofficial” Manager of the Rowan University Swim Team.
In addition to coaching, I am a full time college student. I graduated from Gloucester County College in the spring of 2008 with an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Graphic Arts. This fall, I will be a senior at Rowan University, majoring in Fine Art.

Paul Ponter
We at Brookside Swim Club are pleased and proud to have Paul Ponter unselfishly support, encourage and most importantly coach our children.
Paul grew up in Glassboro, NJ. He graduated from Glassboro High School and attended Glassboro State College where he received his degree in education. Growing up Paul swam at Brookside swim club from ages 8-17. He also was an accomplished swimmer for the Sea-Jay’s (now known as the Wahoo’s), the Vineland YMCA and the Gloucester County YMCA. Paul also represented Glassboro High School in the New Jersey state championship meet and, while attending Glassboro State College, swam for the team for 2 years.
Paul’s swim coaching history is quite extensive. He has coached the high school teams of West Deptford, Haddonfield, Hammonton, and Pitman. Other coaching stints include programs at Rutgers University/Camden, Rowan University and Gloucester County YMCA. Paul has also coached the summer swim teams at the clubs of Hammonton, Wedgewood, Erlton, Woodbine, and currently Brookside. In total Paul has coached swimming for 31 years.
Paul currently resides in Sewell, NJ with his wife of 29 years, Janice and two children, Michael, age 25 and Erin, age 21. Paul has been employed at Hammonton High School for 29 years as a business education teacher. When not coaching swimming, Paul enjoys playing tennis, travelling, and playing the drums.

This winter kept me busy; as I am sure it did you. From September through June you can find me having fun as a Physical Education teacher at Salem High School. In the winter months I am again on the pool deck as the head coach for the Glassboro High School Boys and Girls Swim Team. During the Fall & Spring I am busy coaching the warm-up groups at GPAC. Last but not least, as many of you have seen I am also a swim coach for the TNT swim program at Rowan University.
A little back ground about myself, I grew up in Middletown New Jersey, so I am a South Jersey transplant, however I now call it home. I started swimming competitively at the age of 4 for the Michigan Stingrays and then moved onto the Red Bank Aquarockets where I spent the next 12 years of my swimming career. I then attended Rowan University and swam under the tutelage of Tony Lisa. I graduated with a degree in Health and Exercise Science with a teacher’s certificate. I have been a teacher for the last 8 years, a swim coach for the last 13 years at TNT, and Mr. Ponter's assistant for the last 9 years. I have a lot of knowledge in the sport of swimming. It has been my life and my passion, I enjoy coaching especially when you, the swimmers, are having fun and reaching your goals.
